Why participate?
Currently we cannot offer you to become rich as Croesus by participating in the Northern Acappella Festival.
What we can offer though is:
- a lovely concert in a beautiful area of Liverpool
- a packed and enthusiastic audience to cheer you on
- peer-based non hierarchical workshops and feedback loops
- a full day of listening, singing and socializing with other ensembles
- to be / to have an international headliner
- promote any of your recordings to a fresh audience
- gathering touring experience / preparing for competitions and masterclasses
- quality recordings (audio, video) and photos of your performance and the day
- a fair share of any profits made of the donations
- a wonderful mix of acappella styles, groups with different experiences etc.
- a lovely large pub near the venue where you can mix with the singers and audience afterwards for a classical afterglow
- the possibility to make some connections abroad and maybe go there in return ? ...
The Northern Acappella Festival is a place in time and space where you can gather new experiences, viewpoints and gain an outside perspective while enjoying yourself, listening to other fantastic groups, meeting great people and having a full day of music making on a high level.
How to participate?
We do ask ensembles to come and join us, but initial requests are also very welcome.
You can contact us at northernacappellafestival AT gmail.com .
How do the groups get chosen?
To have the acappella festival work we are aiming for a group set up which
- includes a headliner, preferably international, with a newly released recording
- two groups from the North
- a mix of various styles in repertoire
- ideally one group should be a relative newcomer
- the headliner should be willing to assign 1-2 "mentors" to the local groups
Finances?
- we aim to offer a lot, but make the festival free / donation based
- we might ask you for supporting texts when applying for funding
- profits will be split 2/1/1 between headliner and the local groups
